“Rivershine”

$450.00

This is a painting of the Herbert River Gorge, just below the Blencoe Falls, North Queensland. I did fifteen paintings of these two subjects, in different light and from various viewing points. This was done just after sunrise, as the light touched the top of the ranges. The following pantoum expresses my memory of this moment.

Giclee, 910 x 610 mm

Description

“Rivershine”

The rising sun is bringing back the light,

The glow extends more fully in the sky,

The river gleams, a pearly stream so bright,

And softly shadows lighten on the hilltops high.

The glow extends more fully in the sky,

The range tops are infused with shades of rose,

And softly shadows lighten on the hilltops high,

The pearly river dims as the light grows.

The range tops are infused with shades of rose,

Now distant hills become alive and sharp,

The pearly river dims as the light grows,

As colours brighten, wind sings like a harp.

Now distant hills become alive and sharp,

River no longer gleams, a pearly stream so bright,

As colours brighten, wind sings like a harp,

The rising sun is bringing back the light.
