This is my symbol for the fruitful later years of life. Though the force of the body is diminishing, the call of the golden light beyond beckons.

I saw this golden light one late afternoon beyond the trees on a long drive home with my companion. I called out to stop, jumped from the truck and scrambled up a bank and through a barbed wire fence, seeking the light. There I saw this tree, standing old but still alive, with the golden light around it and beyond. I snapped three photos while the light held, and from these photos I did this painting.
