Cobbold Gorge, west of Forsyth, North Queensland. This is a very deep, narrow gorge, with strange shapes carved by rushing water in the cliffs. The gorge induces a stillness in the tourists; even the garrulous fall silent. These are the early morning colours. The trips later in the day provide more contrasts, but less of the still, compressive effect of the morning tour.
