Another subject provided for me by my friend , the Park Ranger. This is Pinwell’s Cave, Yarramulla National Park, one of the lava tubes near the Undara Lava Tubes which are open to the public. I sat quietly sketching for several hours there for the light was too dramatic to make a good photograph. The little wallaby watched me quietly until I had finished my sketch of him, then slowly moved away.

His cave provides a quiet retreat for the little creatures, in the heat of summer or cold of winter, for the temperature is very constant there. The tubes were formed when lava flowed down a valley, cooled on the outside, then the lava flowed on out the end, leaving a long empty tube behind.
